The Seattle Sounders handled the Vancouver Whitecaps with ease on Sunday night by a score of 3-0. The Whitecaps were without most of their team and looked completely outclassed by the Rave Green in all phases of the game. The win puts the Sounders at 4 points and a +2 goal differential and on the edge of their seats hoping for a Chicago Fire loss or tie against the Whitecaps this Thursday.
While a Chicago win on Thursday could make things difficult for the Sounders, a 3rd place finish does not end the Sounders chances as they should be able to sneak in as one of the better 3rd place finishers in this unique tournament.

The Cascadia rivalry saw several Sounders out due to injury including newcomer Joao Paulo, Joevin Jones, and Yeimar Andrade. However, it was a whitecap team that saw Tosaint Ricketts and Fredy Montero unavailable as well as 6 more due to various injuries and issues.
In every phase of the game the Sounders dominated with no more with a 17-8 shot difference. 7 of those 17 were on target with 3 dropping in. The “whupping” started early with a Nico Lodiero penalty kick that was earned when Whitecaps Jasser Khmiri was shown a yellow card for a handball in the box.

After a Morris Goal, Raul Ruidiaz would put the nail in the coffin in the 51st minute on a tap in goal with the assist by Jordan Morris and Handwalla Bwana.
While this match doesn’t count towards the Cascadia cup, the points earned do carry forward and the Sounder are now unbeaten in the last 7 games against Vancouver.
