Just a month ago, the Seattle Sounders suffered a 4-1 defeat in the “Back to MLS” tournament being sent home in humiliation. Well, Sunday night, the Sounders jumped all over LAFC go up 3-0 by halftime. LAFC would score a goal in the 2nd half, but the game was Rave Green dominated. Coach Brian Schmetzer in his 5th season continued to impress in rallying a poor tournament performance by the Sounders into back to back wins over the Timbers and LAFC.

Jordan Morris would score a brace (2 goals) in this affair as an unrelenting attack matched that of LAFC’s typical efforts. The Sounders would take 10 shots and confuse, confound, and frustrate the LAFC defense time after time.

On the other side, LAFC gave it their best however goalie Stefan Frei blocked 6 shots including an on-target set piece aimed at the lower right part of the net that most goalies would be unable to stop. Shane Oneil, Kelvin Leerdam, Yelmar Gomez, and Joevin Jones looked immensely better than they had in games past. The defense was solid in a manner shocking to many as neither Xavier or Andrade were in on defense.

Raul Ruidiaz was stellar in the 11th minute as he nailed a long bomb from far beyond the penalty box. With the likes or Jordan, Raul, Lodiero, and Chrisian Roldan this may be the best offense the Rave Green have ever seen. The defense still needs some work, however, it seems that in the last two games the best defense has seemed to be a good offense and that has the Sounders storming to 2nd place in the MLS West with 14 points.
