The Seattle Sounders now hold the top spot in the MLS west with 21 points after crushing LAFC 3-0 on Friday night. It is true that LAFC didn’t have their top player in Carlos Vela, however, this is a team that was supposed to be stacked. The Rave green came out of the gates swinging and never let up on the much highly thought of LAFC team . These 3 points put the Sounders atop the west and proves that the MLS Champions are the “Man.” And as Rick Flair would say, “to be the man, you have to beat the man” and this year, LAFC has only managed 1 win in 3 games against the Rave Green.
The Sounders defense actually held up and as they were a concern earlier in the season, it was good to see another solid outing. The center back duo of Yeimar Gomez and Xavier Arreaga finally meshed as they essentially gave goalie Stefan Frei the day off.
Nico Lodeiro converted 2 penalty kicks in a span of four minutes to give him 4 goals on the season. And in MLS play, he is still perfect on PKs. The 1st PK came after a handball by LAFC’s Dejan Jakovic and the second on a foul in the box by Latif Blessing on Gomez.
14 – @NicolasLodeiro has converted all 14 regular season penalties he's attempted in @MLS, more than any other player with a 100 percent record from the spot in league history. Clinical. pic.twitter.com/F8hUdIVpiQ

Rauil Ruidiaz would get a garbage time goal in the 82nd minute for his 8th on the season, which is just 2 behind the MLS leader Diego Rossi. Jordan Morris who saw minimal time is close behind Ruidiaz with 6 goals on the year.
