The Seattle Dragons waited until halftime to make a decision to bench ineffective starter Brandon Silvers. After going down by a score of 17-3, Coach Jim Zorn made a decision to bring in the NFL veteran and Former Seattle Seahawk BJ Daniels. And while Daniels created a spark, the Dragons would eventually lose 23-16.
“We’ll see it on video,” Zorn said. “It wasn’t all about Brandon. …He did not fail, if you will. But we had only two first downs that whole first half. We needed to give the team something different.”
BJ Daniels found success in the 2nd half, engineering 2 touchdown drives going 5-10 for 100 yards. This was a marked improvement over starter Brandon Silvers who went just 4-10 for 27 yards. Daniels also added a threat that the Dragons hadn’t seen all season and that was with his feet. Daniels would lead the Dragons in rushing with 84 yards on the ground. Daniels and the Dragons were on the attack late in the 4th quarter but a game breaking interception left Daniels and crew with a loss.
“I think we picked up our energy in the second half,” said Daniels, who played at South Florida and has bounced around with six NFL teams, including the Seahawks. “We tried to make it a game. I’m really thankful and proud of the teammates I have in Seattle.”
There was a scary moment in the 2nd quarter when Dragons DB Mohammed Seisay left the field on a stretcher. In an attempt to tackle St Louis’ RB Keith Ford, Seisay’s helmet and Seisay was left laying in a heap. Giving a thumbs up on his exit in an ambulance, Seisay was confirmed to have a neck injury. Mo is a familiar face to Seahawks fans as he played 2 years in Seattle as a member as a member of the Legion of Boom in 2015 and 2016. The former Nebraksa Cornhusker was drafted by the Detriot Lions and has seen NFL and CFL action for the better part of 6 years.
