It wasn’t as if DK Metcalf needed any extra encouragement; however, DK would find himself out to prove a point and boy did he ever with a 10 catch 177 yard game. Before the game, Metcalf said Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, who coached Calvin Johnson in Detroit, compared him to the former Lions star.
“I’m getting a little respect, but you know I still got work to do. One of the defensive coaches came up to me and it kind of made me mad that he was like, ‘You know, I was in Detroit with Megatron but you’re not there yet,'” Metcalf said. “In my mind, I’m not trying to be Megatron. I’m trying to be me. So I had a little chip on my shoulder the whole game.”
The Seahawks made a lot of mistakes offensively, including going for it on 4th unnecessarily twice. After letting Russ cook for much of the season, the return of Chris Carson saw the Hawks go back to a 50/50 balance of run and pass. Russell Wilson would still get 230 yards and a TD, but the Hawks would run 30 times for 76 yards and enforce their will on the Eagles punctuated by a brutal Chris Carson TD run where he carried 2 Eagles defenders into the end zone with himself.
