The demise of the Seahawks defense was short lived as Seattle shook the funk of the 1st half of the 2020 season and utterly shut down the New York Jets in a 40-3 win. Yes the J-e-t-s JETS! JETS! JETS! are a bad team but the Seahawks defense which was on a historic pace to be the worst defense in NFL history has averaged giving up just 16 points per game since the addition of defensive end Carlos Dunlap and Snacks Harrison to the team.
Now Dunlap did not play; however, he must have put some juice in the tema as formerly tepid players such as LJ Collier, Jarran Reed, and Poona Ford had terrific games. Snacks Harrison made a big play forcing a 1st half fumble and adding 6 tackles.
The linebackers who have been up and down all season, were up again as Bobby Wagner jumped on the Harrison forced fumble and added 6 tackles. KJ Wright and Jordyn Brook looked in sync and Shaquem Griffin got extensive playing time and earned his sack.
We all know that Jamal Adams is a boom or bust player and he laid the boom with a sack but also puzzlingly dropped an easy interception that hit him between the numbers. Perhaps he was perplexed to have a ball thrown so directly at him as if he were a receiver? Strong play came again from Shaquill Griffin who is making the Hawks think carefully about perhaps extending a long term contract.
