WSU’s Alex Grinch headed to Ohio State

Washington State University’s defensive coordinator Alex Grinch is taking his talents to The Ohio State University in 2018. Grinch leaves WSU to join Urban Meyer’s squad as a co-defensive coordinator. This will be a bit of a homecoming as Grinch is from Grove City, OH and played his college ball at Mount Union.

Grinch has been the defensive coordinator since 2015 and turned around a moribund defensive squad that typically ranked at the bottom of the Pac-12 statistically. Last year, the Cougars ranked #4 in the nation on 3rd down defense (28.5%), #9 in forced turnovers (28), and #9 in pass defense (170 ypg).
