The game was very close, infact it was just a 1 point lead at the half as the Colorado Buffaloes hung in tight down just 14-13. The Washington Huskies were able to keep the Buffs scoreless in the 2nd half and would earn the 37-13 win.

QB Jake Browning ad a poor performance throwing for just 150 yards. He would however stick the dagger in the hearts of Colorado with a 26 yard TD on 4th down. With less than 4 minutes in the game, Browning hit Aaron Fuller in stride on a slant. Fuller would shake off defenders for paydirt. The 10 points the Huskies scored on Colorado would be more 4th quarter points than the Buffs have allowed all season.

“When I saw it was cover zero I brought my best release because I knew I was the first read on that one,” Fuller said. “They were doing that a little bit when we got toward the red zone and things like that so when we saw that, it was wide open.”

It would be the Husky defense that would win the day as Ben Burr-Kirven would gather 15 tackles, a pass defended, and an interception to shut down this Colorado offense.

Colorado would eclipse 119 yards on the ground, but the passing game was tepid as QB Steven Montez would only manage 14 yards.

The Buffaloes sorely missed their primary wide receiver in Laviska Shenault who is considered the top receiver in all of the NCAA and a future 1st round draft pic.

“It goes without saying Laviska is just so special after the catch what he can do with the ball in his hand,” Montez said. “Not having him, obviously, didn’t help us at all, but I think we definitely have receivers outside of Laviska that are very capable and can make plays as well.”

But the Huskies running game proved strong even with the absence of their own injured star running back Myles Gaskin. Resigned to the sidelines with a shoulder injury, Gaskin and Husky fans watched his replacements perform admirably against a staunch Buffalo run defense. Salvon Ahmed led the day with 73 yards on 9 carries and a TD. Sean McGrew would gain 58 yards on 12 carries, and Kaman Pleasant would manage 35 yards and a TD.
