SSU congratulates Vita Vea drafted #12 overall
Former Washington Husky defensive tackle and the 2017 Pac-12 Defensive Player of the year, Vita Vea was taken 12th overall in the 1st round of the NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 6’4, 347lb Somoan rounds out a tremendous defensive line that includes Gerald McCoy, Vinny Curry, and Jason Pierre-Paul.
Vea had 43 tackles last year leading UW to a Fiesta Bowl showdown with Penn State. He had 5 1/2 tackles for a loss and 3 1/2 sacks. He is primarily a run-stuffer but can get up filed to collapse the pocket in the pasing game.
