SSU Baseball Recap: Seattle Mariners 3 Houston Astros 4

Robinson Cano, George SpringerAnother game, another loss to the the Astros, as Houston takes their 8th straight game in defeating the Seattle Mariners 4-3.

Houston roughed-up Mariners pitcher Roenis Elias early scoring 3 runs on an Evan Gattis homerun in the 1st followed by a Jake Marisnick homerun in the 2nd inning.

Robinson Cano knocked in an RBI scoring Austin Jackson on a double in the 3rd.  And in the 9th back-to-back homeruns by Nelson Cruz and Logan Morrison.  Ultimately the Mariners came up short, failing to hit with runners in scoring position, something that’s plagued the Mariners this year.

The Houston Astros (16-7) stay atop the American League West while the Mariners (10-13) struggle to get to .500.  Taking this series is vital to getting back into the thick of the race.
