Sporting KC dumps Sounders 3-0 off a Gerso hat-trick

Within a span of 13 minutes, Sporting KC’s Gerso Fernandes took the Seattle Sounders to task scoring 3 goals. The left-footed winger broke a 0-0 tie in the second half with goals in the 56th, 58th and 69th minutes. Kansas City (6-2-4) is undefeated in 15 straight home games. Gerso is the first Sporting player with the hat trick since Birahim Diop in 2010. In the 56th minute, Gerso had a deflected corner kick fall to his feet and he slotted it inside the near post. Two minutes later, Gerso’s one-touched a shot off the post and he put it home after blocking a clearance attempt. In the 69th, Graham Zusi found space along the edge of the 18-yard box and found an open Gerso at the penalty spot.
