Sounders tie with Caps in 1st leg of MLS playoffs 0-0

In a conservative game that nether teams seemed interested in playing, the Seattle Sounders and Vancouver Whitecaps played to a nil-nil tie. The Caps and Rave Green combined for a .88 expected goals, the fewest of any of the MLS games this entire season.

The Sounders would have one shot on target to zero for Vancouver as both teams would prove extremely cautious this Sunday. Neither team would eclipse the double-digit mark with shot attempts as Vancouver parked the bus while an injury depleted Seattle side lived to fight another day.

Head coach Brian Schmetzer looked to his bench and tagged Harry Shipp and Jordy Dele to start on the road in this Cascadia rivalry. With a hobbled Osvaldo Alonzo and Gustav Svensson the Sounders had to make due with the backups. Superstar Clint Dempsey was also unavailable due to a red card last week forcing Will Bruin to the striker role while Lodiero took the CAM.

Sounders will take on the Caps in the 2nd game of this leg this Thursday at the Clink.
