The Seattle Sounders had an advantage for almost the entire match after a sixth-minute red card to Daniel Steres. The Sounders with this advantage took the lead in the 42nd minute off the foot of Raul Ruidiaz which gave the Rave Green a good feeling that they may break out of their funk. Unfortunately, Zlatan Inbrahimovic would get a brace and if not for a botched own goal by the Galaxy the Sounders might have left LA with no points to show.

The Sounders had yet another terrible effort, allowing two runs to bring their 4 game total to 11 goals scored. The defense has been absolutely abysmal, notably missing are Chad Marshall (retired), Roman Torres (PED suspension), and Brad Davis. While the Sounders defensive line managed to allow just 8 attempts on goal, but 4 of those were on target. Kim Kee Hee made a critical error that allowed a penalty kick for Zlatlan which would give the Galaxy the lead. To be fair, Tolo, Nouhou, Kelvin Leerdam, and Xavier Arreaga looked just as inept.

As bad as the defense was, the offense was yet again inept and had little reason to be. The Sounders had a full compliment of starters with Ruidiaz, Jordan Morris, Nico Lodiero, and Harry Shipp but couldn’t manage more than just 1 goal. They had the man advantage and 21 shots on goal. But the results speak for themselves as there were many terrible attempts on goal and a complete lack of chemistry by a group that has been together for a while.

The Sounders drop to 5th in the standings and now dysfunctional and distracted, they head to Portland next week to face the Timbers who are fired up and ready to take on the Cascadian rival. The Sounders have a week to figure this out, the question is can they do it before this season spirals any further out of control?
