Everything fell perfectly for the formerly 4th ranked Seattle Sounders to catapult themselves the the #2 seed in the MLS playoffs. Losses by LAFC and FC Dallas saw the Sounders earn a 1st round bye.

”Coming back here to the locker room, it was all crazy to savor – it was very, very good,” Ruidiaz said. ”We were able to achieve that, and I’m super happy for that.

Seattle took care of business as they beat the moribund San Jose Earthquakes by a score of 2-1. The Quakes would actually get on the board fist with a 64th minute own goal on Chad Marshall.

The Rave Green would strike back with a brace (2 goals) by Raul Ruidiaz where he would find the equalizer in the 79th minute.

”Cristian sent the ball over, and it came a little low, but I was able to put it in,” Ruidiaz said.

San Jose would play tough with 3 strikes on goal off their 7 total shots. But the Sounders had a bit more offense this day as in the 92nd minute Ruidiaz would find net yet again for the winner.

”On the second one, I was able to read Nico’s pass, which I’m always looking for because he’s always trying several things.”
