Sounders obliterate Houston 4-1, inch closer to playoffs

The Seattle Sounders dominated the Houston Dynamo on Monday in a 4-1 beatdown. Will Bruin scored the 1st goal of the game just 18 minutes in. Nouhou streaked down the left side of the pitch and crossed to Christian Roldan, Roldan would sneak the pass into Bruin who would turn 360 to shoot off his left foot, confounding the defense and getting the Rave Green on the board.

In the 34th minute, Nicolas Lodeiro would lead the counter attack. He would feed Roldan with a beautiful pass which resulted in a prototypical strike that emphasized this day would be won by the Sounders. Loderio now is 2nd in the Sounders record books for assists with 32 total.

Victor Rodriguez would score a brace with a agoal in the 64th and 73rd minutes–his 3rd and 4th on the year.

Goalie Stefan Frei would have another stellar day. With 3 saves on the day, Frei kept the Dynamo at bay for most of the game. A late game lapse by the backline would offer a Houston goal, but of 5 shots on goal, only 1 found net and that is all that matters.

The Sounders are now at 50 points and barring an epic collapse, they should make the playoffs. With 15 wins, they exceed the previous 2 season’s totals (when they won 14 each year) when they appeared in back to back championship games.
