Sounders FC: Chad Marshall Earns a Suspension

marshallMajor League Soccer announced that two players will earn suspensions for blatent fouls booked in Saturday’s match between the Seattle Sounders and Colorado Rapids.

Both Seattle’s Chad Marshall and Colorado’s Marcelo Sarvas have been punished for violent conduct that endangered the safety of an opponent.

During the game, Marshall earned a yellow card for a high-cleted tackle on Rapids forward Vicente Sanchez.  The booking was reviewed by the MLS and Marshall will sit out the next game and recieve a fine.

Chad Marshall, the MLS Defender of the Year (2014) will miss the next game versus the Timbers on April 26th.

The hard foul may have been retribution for a play earlier in the game when Colorado’s midfielder Sarvas was not called for a foul when he stomped on the crotch of Sounders star Clint Dempsey.  With Clint still on the ground, Sarvas kicked the ball off Dempsey’s head, which led to a heated exchange of words.   For this action, Sarvas will miss 2 games and pay a fine.
