The Sounders haven’t known anything but success in their 11 years in the MLS. This year would prove no different as their 11th straight playoffs saw them pull out a semi-final win over RSL by a score of 2-0. The Rave Green would manage 20 shots on the day with an outstanding 10 on target.

The soon to be retiring RSL goalie Rimando did his best on an injured shoulder, with 4 blocks; however, a mistake off a corner kick saw the Sounders Gustav Svensson redirect the ball off a header to the open near corner.

The Sounders and RSL have met twice before in the playoffs. They went head-to-head in both 2011 and 2012 with RSL advancing in 2011 and the Sounders in 2012. This year as the #2 and #3 seed battled in a close match until an 81st minute Nico Lodiero goal all but put the game away for the visiting Salt Lake squad.

The game got a little bit ugly late as a bad challenge by Everton Luiz nearly begun a brawl. Luiz was ejected for the dangerous tackle but not before trying to fight everyone of the Sounders on his way to the showers.
