With the end of the NFL season, we get ready to lace up the boots as the MLS gets ready again. What better way to begin the preseason than in Arizona with a reply of the 2018 MLS Western Conference Semi-final. Just like the playoffs last year, the result unfortunately being the same as the Portland Timbers beat our Seattle Sounders 2-1.

The friendly saw the Sounders play mostly backups and younger players and impressively stay within fighting distance of the Timbers who played most of their starters.

The Rave Green would take the lead early with a 33 minute goal by Handwalla Bwana. The Timbers experience would be the undoing of Seattle as Diego Valeri would score a brace to win the game.

Seattle used this game to show off 14 Tacoma Defiance players as well as 2 Academy kids. While the Sounders have lost 2 preseason games, it is readily apparent that they intend to find the next Christian Roldan or Jordan Morris in their ranks.
