Saturday saw a frustrating game where the Seattle Sounders played the advantage most of the day, but couldn’t get past a weakened Columbus Crew. Just 15 minutes into the game, Pedro Santos earned a red card leaving the Crew with just 10 players for the remainder. Columbus would park the bus and hold off 17 shots by the sounders to earn the 0-0 tie.

The Sounders were incapable of penetrating the Crew’s defenses with 17 shots, only one attempt was ever really on goal. Columbus was satisfied to only take 5 shots and in fact were more efficient with 2 of their attempts being on goal.

Columbus surrendered possession as Seattle would own the ball 65% of the time and mostly in the Crew’s half of the field. This would be another frustrating result as the Sounders’ one point will keep them in the cellar of the MLS West with just 5 points overall on a record of 1-4-2. Sounders take on Toronto on Wednesday for a rematch of the MLS cup.
