Sounders 1-1 tie with Vancouver but earn 1st place

The Seattle Sounders just played their 10th straight game without a loss (team record). The Rave Green should have won, but they will take the 1-1 tie against Vancouver Whitecaps as they perch themselves atop the MLS Western Conference.

A 19th minute foul in the box saw Nico Lodiero convert a penalty kick to put the Sounders ahead. The Sounders woudl continue to assault the Caps goalkeeper; however, givcredit to the Caps’ goalie David Ousted who pulled his Stefan Frei impression by blocking 11 shots on target.

The Sounders would have the edge on shots with 25 total shots (11 on goal) to just 8 by the Caps. Time of possession also skewed heavily to the Sounders with close to 79%. Things looked great as Tony Tchani would get sent off for accumulating his second yellow; however, former Sounder Fredy Montero would find a 64th minute goal to award the Whitecaps a sneaky point.
