Well it was a nice run while it lasted, but the Seattle Mariners would find their 6 game winning streak stopped by the San Francisco Giants. While the sky looked like the game belonged on Mars rather than the bay area, the Mariners looked jet lagged from the interstellar trip judging by their performance. The Mariners are in full rebuild mode had the excitement of a potential contender, but after getting within 3 games of a playoff spot, the M’s face the realization there is plenty more work to do.

It was a nice 2 ½ innings before this one spiraled out of control. The Giants absolutely abused Nick Margevicius for 7 runs over 4.2 innings.  And while the M’s offense flailed against Giants pitcher Tyler Anderson to the tune of just 3 hits and zero earned runs, it would hardly matter as Mariners pitching allowed 10 runs on 13 hits.

In the 3rd inning, Red Sox legend Carl Yastrzemski’s nephew Mike nailed a solo homer that almost went to McCovey Cove. The nightmare continued from there as the scoreboard turned into a pinball machine. Much like 2020, Mariner fans would like to pretend this game just didn’t happen,

The Mariners had a good shot at this one as shortstop JP Crawford drove in 3 runs for the Mariners. The M’s would actually jump all over San Fran early 5-1 by the top of the 3rd.  Unfortunately, newly acquired reliever Brady Lail would have a melt down in the 3rd and 4th innings allowing 4 runs.

The Giants got home run happy as Alex Dickerson and Mauricio Dubon also nailed homers. However, it would be pinch-hitter Darin Ruf of the Giants who would homer off of Misiewicz that would be the back-breaker to beat the M’s.

On a whole, the M’s pitching was horrible. They allowed 11 hits and 6 runs while burning through 6 pitchers.  The M’s used an opener in LJ Newsome to mixed results as he allowed a run and 2 hits. But as a whole pitching undid this entire series.
