Silvertips take out Seattle 4-0, win the 1st round of the WHL playoffs

The Everett Silvertips upended the defending league champs, the Seattle Thunderbirds winning 4-0 to give them a 4-1 series win, and coincidentally the first series win over the T-Birds ever. All 3 previous series wins had ended in defeats for the Tips, but not this evening as Carter Hart would produce his 36th career shutout.

Everett has been a power in the WHL since their inception and have appeared in the playoffs the last 15 consecutive years, however, in recent memory the Tips were bounced early in the playoffs including twice by Seattle in just the last 3 seasons. With the monkey finally off their back and Carter Hart in goal, the Tips stand to make some noise in these playoffs.

Riley Sutter put the Tips ahead 1-0 in the 1st period on a deflected shot into goal. His shot was among 45 total that the Tips would have on the night. All things considered, the T-Birds goalie Liam Hughes did a decent job as his defense seemingly abandoned him.  Riley would be followed by recently traded for Ondrej Vala (a Dallas Stars signee).

The Tips leaders in scoring this season (33 goals, 100 pts) scored his 3rd goal of the playoffs all but sealing the deal taking all the air out of the T-Birds. And finally Connor Dewar would get in on the fun with the punctuation goal with just 3:31 left in the game.
