Seattle Thunderbirds: Winterhawks oust Scrappy T-Birds from Playoffs

tbirdsThe playoffs concluded on April 7th as the Thunderbirds were trumped in overtime

Seattle went 38-25-4-5 and finished third in the U.S. Division this season, good enough for their third consecutive trip to the playoffs.

However, unable to fend off a strong Portland side, the T-Birds showed considerable fortitude for most of the game.

The one area that showed the T-Birds fatigue was in a disparity in shots (13-7 Portland) in overtime.  Portland came out swinging during the OT period.  Where Seattle led the 3rd period in shots (15-4), the Winterhawks had just a little bit more in stamina to mark an offensive that lead to the game winner.

Kozun stopped 36 of 41 shots but still came away with the loss. Hill won his fourth game of the series after making 46 saves on 50 shots.

In a losing effort, the scrappy Scot Esanor fired two goals to keep the T-Birds in the game.
