Former Super Bowl MVP and fan favorite Malcolm Smith is taking his game to the Bay Area. The 25 year old who star shone brightly on the biggest stage, found himself buried on the depth chart.

Malcolm Smith will trade in his jack of all trades role, to anchor the Jack Del Rio revamped defense in Oakland.   Smith will be the veteran presence to help develop linebackers Sio Moore and Khalil Mack.

Smith, who played only 30% of the snaps this last year, looks to lock down a starting position in the Raiders defense.

The move is typical for what has been happening recently to Seattle each of the last three seasons.  General Mangers across the NFL are picking off the Hawks second tier players hoping that some of the Super Bowl magic rubs off.  It worked for the Patriots when they picked up corner back Brandon Browner; so Hawks fans, expect it to continue for the next several years.

Malcolm Smith: 6′ 226lbs Linebacker.  7th round draft pick from USC in 2011.
In 57 games had 129 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 2 sacks
