Richard Sherman to be released by Hawks?
A very strange tweet by defensive back Jeremy Lane was sent out today. In it, one could draw an inference that #25, Richard Sherman may have been released.
That text message got my heart hurting … damn 25 was my Dawg #WhatsNext

But it was not just Lane who went to social media with a cryptic message. Safety Kam Chancellor has seemingly also received word of Sherman’s departure.
NFL analyst Ian Rapoport seems to also indicate that Sherman has come to grips with his release in saying goodbye to teammates.
#Seahawks CB Richard Sherman has told teammates goodbye over the past 24 hours, sources say, and that he won’t be on the team. Those close to him say nothing is set in stone and there has been no official word. But clearly bears watching.

None of this is to say that anything is official and it is possible that Sherman may just be preparing for a potential release. Sherman is headed to the NFLPA meetings Las Vegas this weekend undoubtedly this conversation will follow him in the bright lights.
Sherman was a 5th round draft pick and is/was the voice of the famous Legion of Boom defense. If he departs it will be the end of an era that saw him earn 4 All-Pro selections and a Super Bowl ring. Back to back injuries in 2016 and 2017 have seen the Hawks legend lose a step and thusly trade value. If he were to be released the Seahawks would save $11 million in cap relief.
If Sherman were to be released, he would be snapped up immediately by other teams. Even if he lost a step, he is still better than 1/2 the cornerbacks in the NFL.
