On Notice: Hope Solo Wins, the Haters lose

Hope Solo is the Best in the World at what she does; Solo shut out 3 teams and played at an All-World level in the Women’s World Cup.

Ah, but there are the haters. Those haters, you know the ones?  The hypocritical petty people who do not know the facts, and fail to let the production on the field add to their entertainment.   The haters who foam at the mouth looking to hold celebrities to rediculously high standards that they don’t follow themselves.

Many people had been calling for Hope to be cast-off from the team.  A veritable witch-hunt was summoned by duplicitous nerds on twitter and message boards worldwide. There is a large population who look at alleged incidents that she was a part of and come to a snap decision that she is as awful of a person as Ray Rice, Lex Luthor, and Gargamel combined.

Solo was also arrested on domestic violence charges last summer and suspended by U.S. Soccer earlier this year after her husband was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk while behind the wheel of a team van.  All of these charges were dropped, however, angry geeks in their mother’s basements constantly lambasted her for behavior.

There was another incident where she allegedly attacked her nephew and sister.  Charges were dropped as it was found out that she was defending herself.

So, as her name gets dragged through the mud, this incredibly tough woman powered through the hate-mail, and the dirty looks to recoup her self and lead the U.S. Women’s National Team to win the World Cup.

Did the haters who so passionately crucified Solo in the media and online, get past their indignation to perhaps root for Hope as she lead America to victory?  If you haters missed it, here is what she did:

  • Solo started and played all possible minutes (630) in all seven of the U.S.’ matches.
  • After giving up a goal in the 27th minute of the team’s second group stage match against Australia, Solo kept a clean sheet for five games until the 27th minute of the final game against Japan.
  • A 540–minute shutout streak, the second longest in tournament history, with Solo only allowing three goals throughout the tournament.
  • Solo ended the tournament with 177 international caps
  • Received the Golden Glove trophy as the best goalkeeper.

But if the haters choose not to enjoy the USWNT run this summer, perhaps they can be comforted that their anger towards Hope fueled her.

“I think it’s my personality to overcome things, learn from them and become stronger, both personally and professionally. To be honest, I welcome those hardships”.– Hope Solo

Fundamentally, there are two sides to every story, and a great many people are on the side that Hope Solo is a bad-guy.  But the truth is that we do not know what has happened in each of these incidents.  But the haters refuse to think about the other side of the arguement.

The fact that the USWMNT allowed her to play means that these incidents were inconsequential.  The fact that the courts dropped all the charges against her, that means something too, that she isnt guilty!

But for those of you who continue to hate her, your minds probably isnt going to be changed, and it is too bad that you are so incapable of listening to her side of the story.

Perhaps by attacking Hope Solo, looking her faults, it prevents you from having to look at yourselves and figure out why you arent winning at your own life.
