Not the preferred result, but Sounders pick up a point on the road

The Seattle Sounders scored a draw 1-1 against Minnesota United on Saturday. One couldn’t help but think that the Rave Green should’ve came through on their chances; however, the scrappy Loons led by former Sounder Osvaldo Alonso had no fear of the mighty Sounders and gave it all they had.

Minnesota took 12 shots putting the Sounders on their heels for much of the game. The Loons found success 26 minutes in as Ike Opara beat Chad Marshall to get a free kick to Jan Gregus who would find his header connect to the back of the net.

A bogus offside call would negate a Jordan Morris score. But, the Sounders would find the equalizer in the 42nd minute as Christian Roldan would fire a rocket off his a volley for a one-timer shot outside of the goal box.

The Sounders are now tied with Houston and find themselves slipping into 4th place in the west after a hot start. The Rave Green still have just the one loss on the season and would be in 1st place in the Eastern conference. Unfortunately, they are in the loaded West, where both LA teams and both Texas teams will give them a fight for the rest of the season.

Luckily, help is on the way as the Sounders saw a return of Will Bruin and Raul Ruidiaz. The ailing offense has been waiting for the shot in the arm that they needed as next week they face the Houston Dynamo in an opportunity to gain some ground.
