Mariners: Game 13 vs. Houston Astros

MLB: Los Angeles Angels at Seattle MarinersA quiet night at Safeco Field tonight, with a reported attendance of 15,129, to watch the M’s drop a game to the Astros 7- 5. Hisashi Iwakuma took the mound for the M’s, and while he wasn’t perfect, he did a solid job. Two of the three runs he allowed were solo homeruns, so he really only missed on 2 pitches for the night.

The Mariners offense kept the game even for him, and he even left the game with a potential win on the line. But a rough night for Danny Farquhar opened the door for the Astros to take the lead in the 6th, which they did with gusto, making it 7-5.

Nelson Cruz continued his torrid offensive pace, contributing 2 hits for 2 RBIs and a run. He’s now hitting .358 on the season, and while it’s mighty early, it’s clear the naysayers were wrong about him. We here at SSU are glad to have him on our side!
