Mariners: Game 12 vs. Texas Rangers

04192015-mariners22Yes, the Mariners gave up 7 runs in the 3rd, and yes, the Mariners were walked yet again the precipice of doom, and yes, Nelson Cruz, came to the rescue!

Nelson Cruz homered twice, improving his MLB-best total to eight. He also singled through the left side with the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth inning as the Mariners came from behind to defeat Texas 11-10 on Sunday at Safeco Field.

Disaster loomed as promising young pitcher James Paxton was shelled in the 3rd inning for 7 runs.   The Rangers saw heroics offensively from former Mariner Adrian Beltre and Shin-Soo Choo; each of whom scored runs.
The M’s offense fought back and chipped away at the deficit slowly but surely,  behind heroics of a Austin Jackson Home run and 2 Home Runs by Nelson Cruz.
But it wasn’t the ferociousness of the home runs by Cruz, it was his 9th inning single to drive in Robinson Cano for a walk off game winning RBI that earns the adoration of Mariners fans nationwide.

‘This team is a very gritty bunch. They’re built for this. They’re tough. Character-wise they’re tough,” Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon said. ”We have a nice mix of veterans and young players. This team is built for greatness. I don’t know what’s going to happen but I like where we are.”
