Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners

Are the bats starting to warm up? Nelson Cruz certainly is starting to justify the big contract. The Ms have a lot of baseball left, and the team has a lot of work to do to start actualizing the preseason expectations, but there are some reasons to start getting excited about this team (they can actually come from behind now).
The Astros have been more inconsistent offensively than Seattle, so that’s good news for the Ms’ pitching staff. Look for Taijuan Walker to pick up his first win of the season against the light-hitting Houston squad.

Austin Jackson. A baseball player made for Safeco, Jackson is just starting to look comfortable at the plate. When he’s on, the speedy center fielder is a tough out with power to the gaps, and he’s a handful once he gets on base. The more base runners that can get into scoring position for Nelson Cruz, the better.

Minnesota Twins vs. Seattle Mariners

Friday, April 24th    at Minnesota Twins        7:10 PM PST
King Felix (RHP) 2-0 vs. Phil Hughes (RHP) 0-3
Saturday, April 25th    at Minnesota Twins        6:10 PM PST
James Paxton (LHP) 0-1 vs. Trevor May (RHP) 1-1
Sunday, April 26th    at Minnesota Twins        1:10 PM PST
Hisashi Iwakuma (RHP) 0-1 vs. Kyle Gibson (RHP) 1-1

The Mariners homestand continues when the offensively-challenged Twins visit Seattle. Quite frankly, the Twins have the worst lineup in the league and have struggled to score. They rank at or near the worst in every major offensive statistical category. Felix Hernandez should have the crowd going crazy on Friday as the Ks rack up.
James Paxton will get the call on Saturday, and fans will be interested to see how he rebounds from a couple of poor performances. Is the big lefty hurt, or does he need to make some early-season adjustments?

Nelson Cruz. Why not? It may be a week too late, but there is no reason to start betting against the hottest hitter in the league.
