Husky legend Isaiah Thomas comes home to watch his Alma Mater down Buffs 82-59

The 3 game losing streak is over and the Washington Huskies are back on track. Coach Bob Hopkins has found a way to get the purple and gold to play defense again as they held the Colorado Buffalos to just 25 points in the 2nd half en route to a 82-59 win.

Matisse Thybulle broke out of his 2 week funk and drained 26 poits on 8-11 shooting. Thybulle would get 4 more steals as he looks to pad his UW record for career steals. Noah Dickerson put in another solid performance with 14 points and 10 rebound night.

“Words can’t describe how grateful I am to be standing in front of you guys today,” Thomas, a Tacoma native, said during the halftime ceremony. “Getting my jersey retired is more than what I dreamed of as a kid. Knowing my name will last her forever really means the world to me.”

The win was fitting for the jersey retirement of former UW star Isaiah Thomas. Isaiah was in attendance on Saturday night and got to see his 32 immortalized in the rafters. The 2x NBA all-star joined Bob Houbregs #25) and Brandon Roy (#3) in this honor. In attendance were former Huskies (and NBA players) Markelle Fultz and Marquese Chriss. Former UW headcoach Lorenzo Romar even paid tribute to Thomas’ achievement.

“He relates to every kid in the United States of America,” Washington coach Mike Hopkins said of Thomas, a 5-9 point guard and two-time NBA all-star. “He was a guy that people questioned when he went pro. He was the last pick. You look back at his career, he struggled and he became an all-star. He became one of the leading scorers in the NBA. In the NBA! I don’t think there’s a greater role model or inspiration than Isaiah Thomas.”
