Brad Smith’s ruthless aggression sparks Sounders to win over FC Dallas 2-1

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

The 2x defending Western Conference champs, the Seattle Sounders just took down Western Conference leading FC Dallas on Sunday by a score of 2-1. The Rave Green unleased newcomer Brad Smith, a left back who did his best Deandre Yedlin impersonation as he took left back position with ruthless aggression, leading the charge repeatedly.

The Sounders just moved past Minnesota United (the Loons) in to 8th place. In fact, the Sounders are just three points behind Real Salt Lake for the conference’s sixth and final playoff berth, and Seattle has a game in hand.

Scoring began with an early header by Chad Marshall who bounced one in the 41st minute into the side netting just inside the left post. He would be followed up by a Lodiero’s set piece in the 63rd minute that saw him bend it like Beckham for the wining goal!

The Sounders are now in 8th place on their march back to the playoffs. This is their 8th game in a row unbeaten and their 5ht win in a row. The road to the playoffs is still uphill, but with a win over the league leaders, it has taken a new tone.
